Trane began as a plumbing business established by James Trane in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 1885. James and his son Reuben incorporated and became The Trane Company in 1913. Friedrich was founded by Ed Friedrich in San Antonio, Texas, in 1883. It began before modern air conditioning existed and later specialized in premium window, through-the-wall, commercial-room, and specialty air conditioning products. Friedrich is now part of Rheem.
Lennox was established in Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1895 after Dave Lennox helped manufacture an early riveted-steel furnace. The company expanded from furnaces into residential central air conditioning in the 1950s and eventually became a major manufacturer of residential and commercial climate-control equipment.
Zone Air is an American HVAC brand focused on high-efficiency, homeowner-installable ductless heat pumps using pre-charged line sets.
